How we met:
We met Junior year of high school through mutual friends. After many long rides home and hundreds of text messages, we realized we liked each other. On August 8, 2004, a few weeks before leaving for college, we started going out.
The Proposal:
On August 8, 2007, our three year anniversary, Tim proposed. The day started out with Tim picking me up with a dozen long-stemmed red roses. We went to Cantigny and had a Boston Market Picnic much like one we had the first week we went out. After the picnic, we walked around the gardens and took pictures. Then, we were supposed to go miniature golfing at a place in St. Charles, where we went on our first official date, but we couldn’t because it started pouring. We got Moo-lattes, our favorite iced drink, from Dunkin Donuts and went back to my house to get ready for dinner. We got all dressed up and Tim took me to our favorite restaurant, Wildwood Seafood and Steak in Geneva, where we went for our two year anniversary. We had a private table by the window Tim reserved beforehand. Before dinner, I could tell that something was going on because Tim looked nervous. I asked him why he wasn’t eating his bread, and then he started telling me about how he loved me very much and wanted to always be there for me. Then Tim got down on his knee and asked if I would marry him.
My Reaction:
Of course I said yes! But I kept saying, “I can’t believe you’re doing it now!” because I thought he was going to propose the next Saturday. Afterwards we called our families, and went to Tim’s house, the Sauter’s house, Lisa’s house, and my house to show off my ring and celebrate!
Our celebration:
That Saturday night, Tim planned an Odyssey Cruise on Lake Michigan for us. We got the celebration package which included red roses on the table, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a dessert plate decorated for us. After dinner, we went to the observation deck and enjoyed the city at night. Then we watched the firework show and danced a little. It was a wonderful night, and a great way to celebrate our engagement!
